Apples of HIS eye

Happy New Year everyone. I ended my year off with playing the game Apples to Apples among friends and then driving home from Haxtun with my oldest daughter Alyx. I love the private talks. Already she is becoming a young woman who has many wonderful life choices ahead of her but her focus seems to be on the here and now. Humm the apple does not fall far from the tree does it Krista? It has always been my desire to grow them and raise them in a proper way that is pleasing to the Lord. Yet here they are teenagers- driving, dating-(well at least one of them) and my fearful realization is that I have not been planning for the future. I too have been living in the here and now mood. I felt behind the 8 ball when the boys started calling to date the girls, (not expecting that till the girls were at least 25?) behind in my prayer life about the training of the kids spiritually- they know the Lord but with their maturity I need to be praying on a different level- I need to move up from the teddy bear hugs and elementary hurts- My kids are experiencing life, the enemy is after them and I need to be there for them whether they want me there or not. Have I lived by example? Have I taught by my life? My kids are precious jewels from the Lord- I don't want to be casting them before people who may hurt them. So it is the girl and boy talk. Will she believe me when I tell her boys have cooties and to stay away? Focus on getting your self esteem from the Lord and how beautiful you are to the Lord! Will the boys hate me when I try to explain that it is my husband- Devins' and my job to keep the children safe until they are married? Women are like apples. The best ones are at the top of the tree. Most men don't want to reach for the good ones because they are afraid of falling and getting hurt. Instead they sometimes take the apples from the ground that aren't as good, but easy. The apples at the top think that something is wrong with them but in reality, they are amazing! They just have to wait for the right man to come along, the one who will wait for God's perfect timing the one who is strong and brave enough to climb all the way to the top of the tree. Yes I will have apples on my mind this year-striving ahead to what God has called us to~ perfection. So that I can be the apple of HIS eye. Another poem that my dear friend shared with me when we were young.....

When I was young, I liked him
When I liked him, I started to love him
When I loved him, I let him
When I let him, I lost him

Be blessed in the training of your children!
