GCPBA On Mission To Mexico
November 14-19, 2011

The Great Commission Partnership Baptist Association will be On Mission to Mexico this fall and we would like you to join us. We will be traveling to Alamo, Texas and doing ministry in the Reynosa area of Mexico. We will be utilizing the services of a mission organization named Upon This Rock International (UTRi –  www.utri.org). Here is some of the specific information you will need to know about the trip:

Dates: November 14-19, 2011

Cost: $395 per person PLUS airfare to Mc Allen, Texas airport and then any extra money you may need for souvenirs or shopping. The $395 covers airport pickup and departure at McAllen airport, air conditioned dormitory housing for five nights, three meals a day, transportation and bridge fees to and from Mexico, daily chapel services, and translators. GCPBA will provide $100 for each person to go toward the$395 and so each person will need $295 PLUS airfare and spending money.

The Mission: We have the opportunity to be involved in several projects while we are in Mexico. We hope to have a big enough group to go where we can participate in each of these areas but these are just possibilities available depending upon our group.

Construction Projects
There are always a need for basic construction in this area of Mexico. There is a need for “casitas” or little houses. These are essentially four walls, a window, and a door.

For the construction projects, we would need to raise the money for the materials and then UTRI will make sure the materials are waiting for us in Mexico.

We need a project lead for the construction team. If you are skilled in construction or know someone who is, please contact Rolland Kenneson (rolland@sbcwiggins.org or 970.380.0365) for more details.

Women’s Bible Study
This would be concurrent with the VBS and would be geared toward the mothers dropping off their children. As with VBS, it will be 2-3 hours in the late afternoon.

We need a project lead for the Women’s Bible Study team. If you would like to be on the team which ministers to these ladies, please contact Rolland Kenneson (rolland@sbcwiggins.org or 970.380.0365) for more details.

The participation in these projects will be determined by the number of people going On Mission and their skill sets. If you are interested in serving in a particular area, please let please contact Rolland Kenneson (rolland@sbcwiggins.org or 970.380.0365) as soon as possible.

Passports:  Even if you are just considering going, make sure you begin the process of obtaining your passport RIGHT NOW if you do not already have one.

Handbook: each participant is required to read the UTRI handbook (Click Here to read the handbook) and sign the waiver found on the last page. PLEASE read the handbook carefully, as it outlines what each one should bring, what to leave at home, and what the culture is like. It will answer may of your questions.

I am extremely excited about this opportunity to serve our Lord in Mexico as an association. Please be praying about your level of involvement. If you cannot go, will you please pray about supporting someone from your church both prayerfully and financially? We are praying for a big group and a good representation from all our churches. Please begin promote this opportunity as soon as you can.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me (rolland@sbcwiggins.org or 970.380.0365). I hope to you see you On Mission in Mexico!
